Abstract.
This article deals with the process of reconstruction of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre after its destruction by order of the Fatimid caliph Al-Hakim in 1008(9). According to written references, reconstruction was carried out in several stages under auspices of several emperors of the Byzantine Empire. There is very little archaeological information about the external appearance and internal structure of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, since at the beginning of the XII century its eastern part was completely rebuilt by the crusaders.
