FOLKLORIC THEMES IN VARIATIONAL CYCLES BY BURYAT COMPOSERS

Abstract.
Over the last decades in the sphere of chamber instrumental music there have appeared many new compositions by modern Buryat composers for national instruments and the piano. The article by the example of two variational cycles - for the jataga and piano by L. Sanzhieva and for the chanza and piano by V. Usovich - examines structural and expressive potentials afforded by the Buryat folkloric genus. The author identifies differences in the approach to the original theme transformation in the mentioned cycles, analyzes in detail genre transformations of the folkloric tune in the context of composer’s intention.
