Abstract.
The article is devoted to comprehension of the philosophical and religious direction in heritage of Leo Tolstoy, who sought to reflect his particular worldview in fiction. This direction is still not fully studied and today it is a topical open problem. This subject matter is examined not only by Russian, but also by foreign scientists-philologists suggesting their approaches to the writer’s work, on which the paper is based. The key point is an analysis of works reflecting the very essence of Leo Tolstoy’s philosophical opinions.
