SOCIAL NATURE OF ETHNIC IDENTITY FORMATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL FAMILY

Abstract.
The article deals with the problem of ethnic identity formation in the inter-ethnic marriage (Ukrainian-Russian families living in the Donbass). In the analysis the author proceeds from a hypothesis that the process of self-identification of people from international families does not end in adolescence, but occurs over a long period of time being accompanied by constant reflexion on identification of one’s own national identity. This assumption explains the mechanism of ethnicity formation in international families and shows its social nature.
