Abstract.
In the article the results of the theoretical research aimed at analyzing the sports discourse in the information society are presented. Sport is studied as a universal form of influence on the consciousness of people and communities in the light of the ongoing processes of virtualizing the world of politics by means of the mass media. The specificity of functioning, overlapping and intersection of the sports discourse with other discourses of modern society is considered. The attention is focused on the dependence of the representation of the concept “sport” on the historical component of each period of the human development.
