CONSTRUCTION OF PERFORMATIVE PHYSICALITY IN CONTEMPORARY ART

Abstract.
The mechanism of performer’s body construction is studied in the article. Modern culture is building new anthropology, rethinking the status of the human body. Philosophy and contemporary art rehabilitate its position, proving the importance of sensory experience in constituting the existential being of each individual. It is shown how the performer creates his/her own body as a work of art. The types of performer’s bodies are distinguished basing on the tasks assigned to the artist: the body-victim, the transgressing body, the aleatory body, the body-communication.
