THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION IN THE ORTHODOX-CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS-PHILOSOPHICAL CONTEXT

Abstract.
The question of the relationship between the Christian faith and evolutionary biology is one of the most controversial in modern religious thought. Many believers criticize the proponents of “theistic evolution”, adhering to either “scientific creationism” or “alterism”, which states that natural science reveals the laws of the world changed by the fall of the man. The article presents an analysis of the discussions about evolution in the Orthodox theological environment and the possibility of finding an acceptable solution in harmonizing the theological approach and evolutionary biology.
