PERCEPTION OF PERSONALITY OF METROPOLITAN SERAPHIM (CHICHAGOV) AND “SAROV SOLEMNITIES” IN B. A. ENGELHARDT’S MEMORIES

Abstract. The article describes personal features of the famous Orthodox archpriest of the last century martyr Seraphim (Chichagov). Archpriest’s personality is examined through the eyes of his immediate contemporaries, first of all, B. A. Engelhardt, commandant of Petrograd in February 1917. The paper focuses on archbishop’s personal qualities and his role in the so called “Sarov Solemnities”.
