MASS MAN IN THE CONDITIONS OF CIVILIZATIONAL CONFRONTATION

Abstract.
At the end of the XX century, some researchers hastened to declare “the end of history” after the collapse of the regimes in a number of the Warsaw Pact countries. Those conclusions turned out to be precipitate. The split and confrontation of various civilizational formations did not disappear, but only shifted to a different plane in the context of “mass society”. On the one hand, there is the Western “mass man” with his thirst for irrepressible consumption, and on the other - “a mass man” of the East obsessed with religious views, implicitly using his clerical mobilization to achieve a similar level of consumption.
