RUSSIA AND EAST: INTERCULTURAL INTERACTION THROUGH THE PRISM OF ALIMENTARY DIALOGUE WITH THE OUTSIDER

Abstract. The article analyzes the intercultural dialogue “Russia - Far East” through the prism of alimentary culture. Outsider’s food always attracts special attention since alimentary culture refers to identity markers. Neighbours’ culinary preferences can frighten or raise the curiosity; they often become a factor to form a negative image in consciousness and mass culture. At the same time an intercultural dialogue occurs through borrowing of certain alimentary objects and their adaptation to local requirements.
