ECOCENTRISM IN WORLD CONSCIOUSNESS: HISTORICAL ASPECT

Abstract. The article considers the problem of strengthening the attention of the international community in the period of the 60-70s of the XX century to global environmental problems, a number of reasons for the recent actualization of this issue, as well as the causal relationship and activities that accompanied the development of the modern international environmental order. Special attention is paid to the basic notions of anthropocentrism and ecocentrism that have replaced each other in the public consciousness, as well as to economic relations and global historic events that have influenced the need for urgent strengthening of international cooperation for solving aggravating environmental problems.
