Abstract.
The article considers the legislation of the Russian Federation and the Federal Republic of Germany, which determines the legal status of trade unions. Common elements and differences in the work and structure of the German and Russian trade unions are revealed, among them are the following: the right of property of trade unions, the systems of trade unions, the peculiarities of the right to collective agreements, the representatives of workers apart from trade unions, the right to strike. In conclusion of the article it is proposed to improve the working conditions of trade unions in Russia.
