FRANZ LISZT AND HIS DISCIPLES IN AUGUST GÖLLERICH’S DIARY (NOVEMBER 1885 - JANUARY 1886)

Abstract.
The article characterizes a cohort of Franz Liszt’s disciples who attended his classes in the period of his staying in Rome at the end of 1885 - the beginning of 1886. This circle included Bernhard Stavenhagen, Conrad Ansorge, Lina Schmalhausen, August Stradal, Frederic Lamond, Thomán István, Louise Cognetti, Nadine Helbig et al. The study is based on the diary of August Göllerich, Liszt’s secretary and disciple, who introduces valuable historical and methodological information on specificity and content of Liszt’s teaching activity. The paper discovers the peculiarities of the repertoire, aspects of performing technique which attracted Liszt’s attention.
