Abstract.
The article presents a comparative analysis of understanding the tragedy in the philosophy of two thinkers of the XX century, M. Heidegger and P. Ricoeur. In analyzing poetic speech, the philosophers relied on the ancient concepts of the tragedy, metaphor. Heidegger singled out the sacred side of these notions. Ricoeur appealed to the Aristotelian mimesis and studied the metaphorical use of a language, placing it in a dialectical process. At the theoretical level, the thinker moved from semiotics to semantics and, finally, to hermeneutics.
