Abstract.
The article focuses on characterizing the conditions of Serbia’s development in 1889-1893 and the response of the Russian society to these events. Milan Obrenović’s abdication and the subsequent transfer of power to the radical party headed by N. Pašić marked the opening of a new period in the Kingdom of Serbia’s foreign policy. The paper aims to trace the dynamics of the representation of this Balkan state’s current political life in the Russian social thought, to identify the basic tendencies in the domestic press of the mentioned period when describing the events in Belgrade.
