Abstract.
The article analyses major British political parties’ approaches to the European relations within the House of Commons’ debates on the problem of the Lisbon treaty’s formation and ratification. Party and political struggle on this issue unfolded in Great Britain showed the split within the Labourists and the Conservatives. The first ones tried to preserve an optimistic view on cooperation with the European Union; the Tories followed an extremely sceptical approach. The British parties’ approaches influenced further relations of the country with the European Union.
