Abstract.
The article analyses W. Busch’s (1832-1908) “synthetic text” - “Die kühne Müllerstochter” - which contains a tale in verse and graphical illustrations. Relevance and scientific originality of the paper are conditioned by absence of modern studies on such issues as interrelation of verbal and visual elements in W. Busch’s works, the author’s artistic means, addressing techniques, responsiveness to challenges of the epoch. The conclusion is made that he created two meaningfully valuable texts, which are harmoniously interrelated. The second conclusion is that W. Busch’s artistic language has the features of historicism.
