Abstract.
The paper aims to study protest movement in the Czechoslovak Corps in the years of the Civil War in Russia. Scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that the authors examine causes for protest moods formation among the Corps personnel who played a key role in confrontation escalation in Russia. The soldiers and officers’ discontent is a poorly investigated factor that incited mutiny of the Czechoslovak Corps in May, 1918. The article considers Irkutsk Extraordinary Congress - the most vivid manifestation of the soldiers and officers’ disagreement with the command’s actions. Conclusions are made that protest movement and Irkutsk Congress influenced the decision of the Allied Forces Headquarters in Siberia about the soldiers evacuation through Vladivostok and refusal to interact with A. V. Kolchak’s troops.
