Abstract.
The article aims to consider V. V. Zenkovsky’s philosophical hypothesis about the createdness of ideas in line with his plan to develop a Sophian doctrine of the world. Scientific novelty of the paper lies in substantiating the fact that the stated hypothesis, intended to serve as a solution to the issue of overcoming pantheism, leads to problematisation of the Christian doctrine of creation. The paper argues that this problematisation made Zenkovsky abandon the hypothesis and return to the traditional point of view about the uncreatedness of ideas. However, as a result of the analysis, it has been shown that the proposition about the uncreatedness of ideas is difficult to combine with the Christian concept of ontological dualism of God and the world and, consequently, it cannot serve as a convincing basis for the Sophian doctrine of the world as Zenkovsky understood it.
