Abstract.
The reviewed publication is dedicated to the personality of Mansur Khasanovich Khasanov (1930-2010), a well-known scientist and statesman of Tatarstan. “Dialogues” tells the story of M. K. Khasanov’s life, portraying him as a determined and socially active individual who rose from humble beginnings to become the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (TASSR) and the first President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan. The book focuses on the formation of his worldview, his education and work at the Kazan University, and his involvement in the highest party and governmental bodies of the republic. The book describes his relations with the republic’s leaders, cultural and artistic figures, scientists, and educators. “Dialogues” will be useful for both specialists studying the history of Tatarstan and Russia in the 20th and early 21st centuries and a wide range of readers interested in the challenges faced by individuals during this tumultuous period.
