Abstract.
The study aims to reconstruct the socio-cultural and administrative landscape of Yakutia in the late 19th – early 20th century, based on an analysis of documents from the archive of the Yakut District Police Department (YDPD). The article examines the corpus of YDPD documents, reflecting the mechanisms of interaction between central authorities, regional administration, and local communities. The scientific novelty of the research lies in studying this archive as a holistic information system, which provides a basis for the interdisciplinary synthesis of the region’s history within the context of broader imperial processes. The research established that YDPD documentation, extending far beyond narrow departmental confines, forms a multi-level source base that allows for the identification of key aspects of the region’s life during that period.
