Abstract. The monograph presents the results of long-term research into the archaeology, history, and culture of the Kurkijoki center and its surrounding areas. Archaeological and written sources, including birch bark manuscripts and chronicles, provide a comprehensive look into the history of the ancient Karelian people. The work offers detailed information regarding the economy, crafts, military equipment, and clothing of the Middle Ages. Furthermore, it highlights educational activities focused on regional history and examines the stages of establishing the Kurkijoki Local History Center, along with its primary goals and objectives. The edition is intended for anyone interested in the archaeology and history of Karelia.
