The specificity of New York jazz: on the question of stylistic transformation

Abstract.
The aim of this research is to identify the specific features of New York jazz in terms of stylistic transformation. The article highlights the influence of the radio industry on the formation of New York jazz, analyzes the transformation of jazz music from dance forms to highly artistic compositions, and traces the prerequisites for the formation of New York jazz, listing the distinguishing features of New York jazz (in comparison with Chicago and New Orleans jazz). The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that it is the first one to identify the specificity of New York jazz, the stylistic features of this direction, using the works of Fletcher Henderson and Don Redman, and Duke Ellington as examples. The study established the peculiarities of the formation of stylistic features of New York jazz, as well as the main achievements of the aforementioned musicians in this process.
