Abstract. This article examines the specific features of A. A. Bakun’s artistic method in the context of interpreting the landscape legacy of P. Cézanne. The aim of the study is to determine the specific nature of the artist’s reinterpretation of Cézanne’s legacy (specifically the “Mont Sainte-Victoire” series) within the evolution of a contemporary Russian artist’s individual style, employing a system of principles for analytical interpretation. Particular attention is paid to the influence of the traditions of G. Ya. Dlugach’s “Hermitage School” on the formation of Bakun’s distinctive artistic method. The study’s scientific novelty lies in identifying the nature of the creative dialogue between Cézanne’s series of paintings from the “Mont Sainte-Victoire” period and Bakun’s French cycle, “Views of Mount Baou de Saint-Jeannet”. The article examines how a contemporary artist engages with the space, color, and plastic structure of the landscape. It is established that Bakun’s work represents an independent development of Cézanne’s principles of form-creation, grounded in an exploration of the artwork’s underlying geometry and the principles of artistic composition.
