Abstract.
The aim of the study is to justify the need for further research on using virtual reality (VR) technology for interpreter training, based on foreign and Russian experience. The article identifies insufficiently explored topics presented in the literature analyzing the experience of training interpreters in a virtual environment. The study examines the language pairs, modes of interpreting, characteristics of VR-platforms, and teaching methodologies investigated in the empirical scientific literature. A classification of VR-platforms for interpreter training is proposed. The scientific novelty lies in identifying previously unexplored aspects of VR-based interpreter training presented in the scholarly literature on this subject. As a result of the study, promising research directions in the field of VR-based interpreter training are identified and substantiated, including those relevant to the Russian context.
