Abstract.
The article is devoted to the analysis of death motive in the structure of war chronotop on the material of the English poetry of the XXth-XXIst centuries based on the heroic eposes of different peoples, English medieval ballads and war eyewitnesses' accounts. Within the framework of death motive as a component of war landscape three aspects are considered: the motive of element mortality, the representation of war through the metaphor of agricultural labour and the image of bird-scavenger <file:///E:\Documents%20and%20Settings\Анна\Local%20Settings\Temp\Word_0>.
