Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of the French language role in the formation and expression of V. A. Zhukovskiy's ethical-philosophical views, in particular, his so-called lantern philosophy. At that the French language is considered as the tool of the re-expression of images and senses initially formulated in the Russian language.
