Abstract. This article reveals the content of one of the most perspective researches of metaphor - the theory of conceptual integration of G. Fauconnier and M. Terner, built on the bases of the conception of mental spaces of Gilles Fauconnier. The comparative analysis of this theory with the adjacent branches of metaphor study is given in the article.
