Abstract.
The authors consider the peculiarities of the French argotic phraseological units which render a person's characteristic and comprise the units of gastronomic cultural sub-code and pay special attention to the study of gastronomic notions realization in the structure of characterological argotic phraseological units both in neutral meaning and in reconsidered lowered meanings and to the revelation of the basic thematic phraseological groups in which gastronomic metaphor plays an important role.
