Abstract.
The article is devoted to Hugo von Hofmannsthal's little-known early lyrics and its connection with the first lyrical dramas of the Vienna author. Hofmannsthal's early works were enthusiastically met at the turn of the XIXth-XXth centuries in Austria and Germany by the representatives of neo-romantic and symbolist literary trends (H. Bahr, A. Schnitzler, S. George). At the same time they were not definitely approved by the older generation of literary men, who followed realistic traditions (F. von Saar). Lyrics and lyrical-dramatic works solidarity points at Hugo von Hofmannsthal's artistic world potential unity.
