Abstract.
The author considers sentences with estimative constructions as the linguistic means of the interaction between the journalists of the high-grade English-language weeklies Newsweek and Time and readers, and analyzes the correlation between the types of estimation and the estimative constructions actualizing them presented in analytical articles and readers' letters to the editors of the mentioned magazines.
