Abstract.
The author considers the basic classification of phraseological units in terms of their components semantic stability by V. V. Vinogradov, that is the basis for the study of phraseological units in the paradigm of cognitive linguistics by the example of phraseological units in the English language, analyzes the specific characteristics of phraseological fusions, phraseological unities and phraseological combinations of the English language, and reveals the close connection between phraseological unities and a culturological factor.
