Abstract.
The author analyzes I. Polyanskaya’s novel “Shadow Passage” that is characterized by the combination of realistic writing traditions with postmodernist poetics elements, and undertakes an attempt to correlate the novel characters’ fates with real historical personages, the heroes of the Russian literature of the XX
th century, who devoted themselves to the soviet science, participated in the development of the soviet nuclear project under the conditions of the total lack of freedom.
