Abstract.
The author reveals the content of the genre notion “Menippean satire” in relation to the works of the Russian prose writer S. Krzhizhanovskii, pays special attention to the philological analysis of the writer’s several novels with the purpose to single out Menippea features in them, to find the author’s innovation in the sphere of flash fiction genre, and tells that not being able to develop a novel because of its limited volume, the writer extends the semantic boundaries of narration, filling a novel intertextually, turning it into a metatext.
