Abstract. The author analyzes the orthographic and punctuation mistakes made by the Iranian students studying Russian as a foreign language, undertakes an attempt to ascertain the reasons of their origin, and pays attention, on the one hand, to the difference of such mistakes from grammatical ones, and, on the other hand, to the close connection of orthographic and punctuation rules with grammar.
