Abstract.
The author considers the interpretation of creative works of the American writer J. D. Salinger by the writer Vladimir Nabokov, pays special attention to the novel “A Perfect Day for Bananafish” by J. D. Salinger, as a result of the analysis reveals the hidden authorial subtext (suggestiveness), founds the use by Salinger the categories dhvani in the text, as well as researches the correlation of Salinger’s work with Indian philosophy; and also describes the features of Salinger’s poetics in the context of the creative heritage of Vladimir Nabokov: interviews and lectures on foreign literature.
