Abstract.
The main purpose of the article is to present and analyze as complete as possible the interpretation of Kirillov’s image by A. L. Volynskij in F. M. Dostoevskij’s novel “Demons”. Volynskij is one of the founders of religious-philosophical criticism of the Silver Age, later forgotten, the author of the book about Dostoevskij’s creative works. Previously the critic’s opinion on Kirillov was not fully represented in the national literary criticism. The author reveals the originality of Volynskij’s interpretation, which is the actualization of the special aspect of Kirillov’s ideology, in general positive assessment of the image as a whole; and also reveals the certain subjectivity and even the inadequacy of interpretation.
