Abstract.
The author reveals the content of such notions as figurative and conventional metaphors, which implement the cultural concept CONFLICT, namely its figurative-value component, sets the goal to determine this component, which helps outline the linguocultural specificity of the concept CONFLICT, and conducts the research of metaphors and the comparison of the American and British culture by the material of English-language political speeches.
