IMPLEMENTATION OF LANGUAGE POLICY IN COMMONWEALTH COUNTRIES DURING POSTCOLONIAL PERIOD

Abstract.
The author discusses the questions of determining the language policy, suggests the classification of language policies in postcolonial countries, by the example of India considers possible measures at implementing the policy of ethno-linguistic pluralism in the country where there are two official languages - English and Hindi, and ascertains that these measures add up to the settlement and streamlining of functional and status allocation of metropolitan (imported) and vernacular (local) languages at different levels.
