Abstract.
The author researches negation that is one of the complex grammatical phenomena of English, considers the cases of negation use in the syntactic structure of the sentence in Old English, Middle English and early New English periods, in order to determine the individual morphological, lexical means of this aspect in English and to analyze the cases of its use, and studies and analyzes the most commonly used means of negation in English in terms of diachrony.
