Abstract.
The author shows the modern forms of address, the role of address in speech etiquette, tells that among the situations of contact establishing, requiring speech etiquette units, the address to the interlocutor, the attraction of his attention occupy an important place, and emphasizes only those items that are essential for the understanding of speech etiquette, and above all – the question of speakers’ social roles in communication process.
