Abstract.
The author provides the overview of M. Yu. Lermontov’s works revealing the theme of war in the context of literature of the first third of the XIX
th century, covers the questions of the Russian people’s struggle for independence and freedom and the questions of peoples’ peaceful coexistence in the aspect of the modern view on the highest achievements of the Russian literature of this period, and tells that in the domestic literary criticism the theme of war in M. Yu. Lermontov’s creative works was not studied as a separate problem, which underlines the topicality and diversity of this article.
