Abstract.
The author analyzes the general principles of individual’s communicative activity in terms of pragmatics and speech act theory, refers to speech act as to the basic unit of speech communication, tells that at the present stage of language development such questions as the solution to communicative tasks in the shortest possible time with the maximum effect of influence on recipient’s speech come to the fore, uses the works of the English and American authors as the material for the analysis, and illustrates the statement of the article by literary texts.
