Abstract.
The authors consider the phenomena of ambiguity and polysemy in the modern English language, analyze the common mistakes in the use of some lexical units, and pay special attention to the difficulty of ambiguous words translation associated with the mentality and world view of different languages native speakers, which leads to misunderstandings.
