Abstract.
The character of autobiographism in “My Past and Thoughts” by A. I. Gertsen is analyzed. The author of the article determines the principles of Gertsen’s artistic interpretation of his own biography in comparison with the method of L. Tolstoi and S. T. Aksakov. The conception of “historical-social autobiographism” by Gertsen, which is based on writer’s reconstruction of “historical and social coordinates” of his own “I”, is presented to readers’ attention.
