Abstract.
The article considers the key plot formative elements of the tale “The Snail on the Slope” by Arkadii and Boris Strugatskie in terms of one of the work main ideas – the opposition of soulless bureaucracy apparatus to uncontrolled chaotic world, free of human laws. The storylines of the tale are analyzed and compared in parallel, which enables the comprehensive estimation of author’s incarnation of the problem raised under conditions of peculiar allegorization and deconstruction. As a result of consistent and gradual monitoring of main characters’ reaction to the changes in two totally opposite worlds, the conclusion about authors’ non-acceptance of the possibility of one or another world existence in view of their objective inexpediency is made.
