MELODIC FEATURES OF APOLOGY REALIZATION IN THE AMERICAN ENGLISH

Abstract.
The article presents the main results of the research on the melodic features of apology speech formulae realization in the modern English. The quantitative data for each type of apology are analyzed, the general and specific terminal tones typical of phatic and emphatic apology are determined, and the linguistic interpretation of the obtained results is represented.
