Abstract.
The article reveals the peculiarities of N. V. Gogol’s poem “Dead Souls” translator’s reception in Germany at the level of the title interpretation. The results of the comparative-contrastive analysis of the poem German translations of the XIX th-XX th centuries are presented that allow revealing the most adequate translator’s versions with respect to the author’s intention. The analysis is conducted from the point of view of the work “variant” and “invariant” correlation in cultures dialogue context.
