Abstract.
The article discloses the question of the applicability of N. S. Trubetskoi oppositions theory for describing the semantic structure of synonymous language units such as variety, diversity, assortment, selection, range, series, set . This theory allows representing the relations between semantic signs in the meaning structure of the studied words visually as oppositions.
