Abstract.
In the article the portrayal peculiarities of the public teachers of the beginning of the ХХ th century in the works of the Ukrainian writers-teachers Ivan Sadovyi and Mariya Koltsunyak are researched. The texts are analyzed taking into account teacher’s selflessness motif functioning in them, which is important in the poetics of both authors. Special attention is paid to the personality qualities of the main personages, the events and situations in the plots determining teachers’ selflessness in their hard labour.
